Elden Ring to Receive Two New Starting Classes with DLC Weapons in Tarnished Edition
Expanding the Player Options in Elden Ring’s Tarnished Edition
FromSoftware is set to enhance the starting experience for players with the upcoming release of the Tarnished Edition of Elden Ring. This special edition coincides with the launch of Nintendo Switch 2 and introduces two brand-new character classes, each equipped with unique gear from the game’s downloadable content (DLC).
New Classes Inspired by Past Characters
According to reports from Eurogamer, the Tarnished Edition will feature two additional classes: the Id Knight and the Heavy Knight. Both classes draw inspiration from iconic characters from previous FromSoftware titles and come with exclusive starting equipment, offering fresh gameplay styles right from the beginning.
Meet the Id Knight
The Id Knight is designed as a swift yet deadly combatant. Starting with a new weapon named Milady, it is a lighter version of a two-handed sword previously available only after defeating a boss in the game’s DLC. This class is perfect for players who prefer a fast, aggressive style of play with a touch of finesse.
The Heavy Knight: A Tank in Armor
In contrast, the Heavy Knight embodies the archetype of slow but resilient fighters. It begins without a shield but wears an imposing set of black armor. The class wields a new version of a heavy curved sword reminiscent of a giant falchion, making it ideal for players who favor brute strength and durability in combat.
Availability and Future Content
The Tarnished Edition is expected to be released alongside Nintendo Switch 2 on June 5th. However, all new content, including the additional classes and weapons, will also be accessible on PC, ensuring that players across platforms can enjoy these updates.
