Larian Studios Sparks Rumors of a New Divinity Game, Then Clarifies It Was a Glitch

Misleading Announcement: Larian Studios’ Social Media Mix-Up

Recently, fans of Larian Studios experienced a rollercoaster of emotions when the company’s official X (formerly Twitter) account suddenly changed its name from @larianstudios to @divinity. This unexpected switch immediately sparked speculation about a potential new game in the beloved Divinity series.

Official Clarification: No New Game Announced

However, Larian’s Director of Publishing, Michael Douse, quickly stepped in to clarify the situation. He explained that the name change was purely a technical error during a routine account management process. The studio was simply regaining control over its franchise-related social media profiles to prevent phishing attacks and impersonation attempts by third parties.

In his words, the platform mistakenly replaced the main account with @divinity, and this incident has no connection to any upcoming game announcements. Douse reassured fans that Larian Studios is actively working on several major projects, but there are no immediate reveals planned.

Future Projects and Possibilities

Despite the confusion, neither Douse nor other studio representatives dismiss the possibility of a new game set within the Divinity universe. In fact, Douse mentioned in another message that it is still too early to discuss specific details, but the studio has many ambitious plans on the horizon.

Additionally, Sven Vinke, Larian’s CEO, recently shared that the studio is already working on an extremely ambitious game project, with hopes to showcase it by the year 2030. Fans can look forward to exciting developments in the coming years, even if no immediate announcements are imminent.
