Announced during Japan’s Championship tournament, the upcoming Mega Brave and Mega Symphonia sets promise to shake up the game and signal the farewell to the Scarlet and Violet era.

Details of the New Sets and Release Dates

These highly anticipated sets, featuring iconic Mega Evolutions Mega Lucario ex and Mega Gardevoir ex, are set to launch in Japan on August 1, 2025. The international release, including English versions, is scheduled for September 26, with preorders expected to begin around September 13.

While the sets are just announced, fans are already eager to see what new cards and mechanics they will introduce. The focus shifts from the Scarlet and Violet block to the Mega Evolutions inspired by the upcoming Pokémon Legends: Z-A game, signaling a new chapter for the TCG.

Each set will include approximately 63 cards, excluding secret rares, and will officially inaugurate the new Mega Evolution card series. The cards will showcase stunning full-art designs, featuring Pokémon and item cards such as Rare Candy, Night Stretcher, Bulbasaur, Vulpix, and Inteleon. These visuals promise to enhance the aesthetic appeal and collectability of the sets.

For collectors, there will be special Pokémon Center Mega sets that contain 60 packs, a storage box with the cover Pokémon, four dividers, a deck box featuring characters like Acerola or Lillie, and matching card sleeves. The retail price in Japan is approximately $87, though U.S. pricing details have yet to be announced.

Bonus Products and Accessories

  • Premium Trainer Box: Priced at about $47 in Japan, this box will contain 20 booster packs (10 each from Mega Brave and Mega Symphonia), 51 unique cards, a storage box, poison and burn markers, damage counters, and a damage storage case.
  • Additional accessories include themed card sleeves, a deck box, and markers, designed to enhance gameplay and collection value.

Supply Concerns and Pre-Order Opportunities

According to early reports, The Pokémon Company has informed tournament organizers that pre-release allocations will be limited, potentially even worse than previous shortages. This emphasizes the importance of acting quickly to secure these highly sought-after sets once they become available.
